UNDERSTANDING DISABILITY AND GOOD PRACTICE 'ETIQUETTE' Disability is as unique as each individual. The nature of a person’s disability will vary considerably which is why it is important not to stereotype disabled people. However, to understand the barriers disabled people encounter, it is appropriate to appreciate the types of difficulties commonly faced. The following 'etiquette' tips are offered as guidance and have been developed by disabled people with the relevant impairments. Remember to ask: 'do you need assistance?' and if yes, 'how can I help?' |
